About SMMPTN Barat
SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 is a selection process for new independent pathway students which is jointly organized among state universities in the Western Indonesia BKS-PTN consortium. The selection is based on the results of the computer-based written examination (UTBK), conducted collaboratively under the coordination of the SMM PTN-BARAT committee.
Participants who wish to take part in the UTBK SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 must first register online through the official registration page (https://pendaftaran.smmptnbarat.id/). The online registration process is a series of steps that must be completed by participants up to the finalization stage, which includes printing the examination card and participants are required to follow the UTBK SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 schedule as specified on the examination card.
New student admission selection activities are important, to obtain quality prospective new students and have good basic competencies in accordance with the established standards. This activity is a routine activity for all educational institutions to produce a quality young generation. Selection that will continue the baton of Indonesia's development requires the implementation of a selection that is professional, guaranteed, measurable, and efficient.
The implementation of new student admissions for state universities (PTN) is regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2026 concerning New Student Admissions for Diploma Programs and Undergraduate Programs at State Universities. Article 4 of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Regulation No. 3 of 2026 stipulates that New Student Admissions for diploma programs and undergraduate programs at state universities are held through 3 (three) channels, namely; (1) National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), (2) National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), and (3) Independent Selection.
Number of Study Program Options
In SMMPTN-Barat 2026, the committee does not use a group examination system. Applicants from any high school background can choose their desired study programs under the following conditions:
- Participants may choose up to 2 (two) different study programs at one state university or across 2 different state universities.
- The chosen study programs do not have to be at the university where the UTBK is taken.
- The order of chosen study programs indicates the priority of the choices.
Test Materials
The exam materials/questions consist of two types:
- First: Scholastic Potential Test;
- Second: Literacy in Indonesian, Literacy in English, and Mathematical Reasoning.
- The Scholastic Potential Test (TPS) measures cognitive abilities considered important for success in formal education, especially higher education. TPS assesses General Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Knowledge and Understanding, as well as Reading and Writing Skills. Quantitative Ability includes knowledge and mastery of Basic Mathematics.
- Literacy in Indonesian and English measures the ability to understand, use, evaluate, and reflect on different types of texts in order to solve problems and develop individual capacity as citizens of Indonesia and the world, to contribute productively to society.
- Mathematical Reasoning measures the ability to think using concepts, procedures, facts, and mathematical tools to solve everyday problems in various relevant contexts for individuals as citizens of Indonesia and the world.
Participant Requirements
- Graduates of SMA/SMK/MA or equivalent and Package C must possess a diploma.
- Participants must not have been accepted through the SNBP and SNBT routes, or if accepted through SNBT, have not completed the registration process.
- Graduates of SMA/SMK/MA or equivalent and Package C in 2026 must have a Graduation Certificate containing at least identity information, a passport-sized photo, and an official stamp.
- Participants must be in good health to ensure the UTBK process is not disrupted.
- Must have a diploma issued within the last 3 years (2024, 2025, and 2026), except for the following universities:
- UNJA, UMRAH, UNSAM, and UTU allow diplomas from the last 5 years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026).
- ISBI Aceh accepts diplomas from the last 10 years, from 2017 to 2026, and for Package C applicants the maximum age is 35 years.
Registration Procedure
- Registration for SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 is conducted online.
- SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 UTBK participants are only allowed to register 1 (one) time.
- The filling out of the written examination and portfolio registration form is done through the website https://pendaftaran.smmptnbarat.id/ by correctly entering all the required data.
- Registration begins on May 4, 2026, at 16:00 WIB until June 11, 2026, at 16:00 WIB.
- For participants of the SMMPTN-Barat 2026 exam who have made an initial registration to obtain a payment ID, the registration fee payment can be made no later than June 11, 2026, at 16:00 WIB.
- If a participant has not completed the online registration form, they are still given the opportunity to finalize and permanently save it no later than June 12, 2026, at 16:00 WIB.
- The deadline for printing the participant card is on June 16, 2026, at 16:00 WIB.

Portfolio
A portfolio is a documentation of a collection of works or performances created by students during their secondary education. For SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 participants who choose study programs with skill requirements, submitting the specified portfolio is mandatory. Portfolios in the form of videos must be uploaded to YouTube, and the URL should be entered in the portfolio upload menu in the registration application via https://pendaftaran.smmptnbarat.id/. For portfolios in image format, they must be stored on Google Drive, and the link should be submitted via the upload menu. Make sure the Google Drive link is accessible to reviewers (anyone with the link can view).
Test Venue and Location
- The first choice university does NOT have to be the location for taking the written exam. However, it is advisable to choose the examination location nearest to the participant's current place of residence.
- The examination venue for participants in SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 is at the state university closest to the participant's current place of residence and is one of the chosen universities.
- The location of the written examination rooms is arranged and determined by the committee at each participating state university in the SMM PTN-BARAT 2026 selection program.
