ImageUSU Researcher Uncovers Strategic Drivers of Innovation in Indonesia’s Telecommunications IndustryA national-scale collaborative study initiated by researchers from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), has examined the key determinants of innovation performance in Indonesia’s telecommunications industry. Based on a survey of 331 managerial-level respondents from various national cellular companies, the study empirically demonstrates that the integration of digital platform capabilities and the strengthening of big data analytics infrastructure significantly enhance innovation excellence and strategic decision-making efficiency. Since 2008, the Directorate of Research has organized several research groups to implement strategic research topics. These research groups were established based on the Decree of the Rector and have research topics that align with USU's strategic research topics. The research groups consist of researchers from various disciplines who have similar interests and are competent in their respective fields.

The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Scientific Writing Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPIHKI USU) is an academic support unit that functions as a facilitator and developer to increase the number and quality of publications in reputable scientific journals that have gained national and international recognition and possess IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). LIPIHKI is accountable to the Rector under the coordination of the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation.

Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Research

The Universitas Sumatera Utara Institute for Research (LP USU) was established in 1970 under the name of the Institute for Research and Community Service, abbreviated as LP3M, and was chaired by Prof. Andreas T. Barus, M.Sc from 1970 to 1978. LP3M USU was later divided into 2 (two) separate institutes, namely the Institute for Research (LP) and the Institute for Community Service (LPPM).
