10 USU Students Intern in Pakistan, 3 Research Lecturers

USU PR - Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si received an audience from 10 students who will do internships in Pakistan and 3 lecturers who will conduct research in Pakistan. The activity took place in the Rector's Audience Room of the USU Central Bureau of Administration Building on Thursday (27/10/2022).
This audience aims to provide a report to the rector on the departure of students and lecturers to Pakistan this weekend. The internship and research are activities organized by the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) which lasts for 6-12 months.
The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is an inter-university center that brings research to International students from various countries.
Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T. said this activity is one of the priority work programs of the rector and is certainly in line with international ranking indicators.
He also hopes that this activity can be intensified so that students are motivated to have experience doing research abroad.
“So USU is now actively cooperating like this, and if possible, we can send more students out, so they have experience,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu. MSc said the preparation for carrying out this activity had been carried out from February 2022 until August 2022, and today was the departure report.
“By involving biology, chemistry, and pharmacy students as well as accompanying lecturers who are expected to be able to publish together the results of the research. The preparation for this activity has actually been quite long, and Alhamdulillah, their visas have been issued in August, but there is still one student and lecturer whose visa has not been issued,” he said.
In line with this, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt hopes that this activity can increase collaboration between universities, especially universities abroad. He also hopes that this activity will be able to issue collaborative achievements, research, and publications that are sustainable from year to year.
