USU PR - The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) released students participating in the Student Internship and Certified Independent Study (MSIB) Program Batch 6 for the 2023/2024 academic year. This release was attended by 300 students consisting of various Study Programs, on Friday (23/02/2024).
The Internship and Independent Study Program in the previous batch had more than 300 students graduate. This places USU in 8th place with the highest number of MSIBs out of 2,000 universities in Indonesia. Meanwhile, in this 6th batch, more and more USU students participated with Undergraduate to Diploma levels.
Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., M.M., IT, Directorate of Education Development, said that from this MSIB program, students get jobs at their internship sites and become staff. In addition, Dr. Anggia will continue to coordinate with the accompanying lecturers and partners to monitor the students who take part in the program.
"We have handed this over to the partners, so we just need to supervise and monitor the activities carried out by the students," he said.
Riyanto Sinaga, S.Si., M.Si., as the MSIB Internship Coordinator, said that the MSIB Internship program achieved a 12% increase in graduates compared to before. From the previous 250 people, it increased to 307 students. In addition, the number of partners has also increased from 60 partners to 67 partners.
"Specifically for the certified program, the number of students who graduated was 307. This number is up 12% compared to last semester. Last semester it was 250 people," he said.
Dr. Ir. Rahmi Karolina, S.T., M.M., IPM, GP, Coordinator of MSIB Independent Study, explained that the Independent Study was attended by 250 students from 28 Study Programs, there were 5 (five) Study Programs that had a number of passes in this program, namely Information Technology, Computer Science, Psychology, Electrical Engineering, and Informatics Engineering.
"Batch 6 was attended by 250 students from 28 study programs with 42 partners. The five selected study programs are Information Technology as many as 57 students, Computer Science 52 students, Psychology 42 students, Electrical Engineering 14 students, and Informatics Engineering 14 students," he explained.
It is hoped that the students who take part in MSIB, both those who take part in the Internship and Independent Study programs, will continue to carry out their duties well. The students must take advantage of the opportunities that have been obtained.
