HUMAS USU - Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. received a visit from the Prince Of Songkla University (PSU) delegation in the Academic Senate Room of USU's Bureau of Administrative Centre, Friday (17/02/2023).

This visit is a follow-up to the implementation of the MoU between USU and PSU a while ago. This was conveyed by the Director of the USU Directorate of Internationalisation and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T.

"This is one of the further implementations of the existing MoU," said Prof Himsar.

The Director of USU's Directorate of Internationalisation and Global Partnerships added that this hearing discussed the expansion of future cooperation, such as research collaboration and student exchanges, considering that PSU is one of USU's most active collaborators.

"The PSU team is among our most active collaborators, and some of our lecturers are also alumni from there; some others are now studying there, and if possible, we would like to strengthen our collaboration further," he said.

Further explained by PSU Assistant President for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Wongkot Phuphumirat, a number of cooperation programmes between the two universities are still only for study programmes in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Nursing.

PSU itself will invite USU students from related fields to study there. Assistant President for International Affairs PSU said that PSU provides scholarships for USU students.

"Our next step is to invite the best students at USU to study at PSU by providing scholarships. In addition, there will also be collaborations in the fields of teaching and research," explained Prof Wongkot Phuphumirat.

Lastly, Prof Dr Wongkot Phuphumirat hoped that the two universities could be more active in conducting joint research and establish close collaboration in the future in research, student exchange, and teaching.

For information, the hearing was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST, M. Sc, IPM, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Dudut Tanjung, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.KMB, then Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp. KGA, and Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc,.
