Medan, April 30, 2026 — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has officially received Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to support the improvement of healthcare service facilities at the Prof. dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Teaching Hospital of USU. The handover ceremony took place at the hospital lobby on Thursday (30/04/2026).

Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his appreciation to BRI for its commitment and tangible contributions to the healthcare sector. He emphasized that hospitals today play a crucial role within the national healthcare ecosystem, serving not only as medical service providers but also as centers for education, research, and community service.

Furthermore, the Rector outlined the hospital’s strategic development plan, which includes gradually increasing bed capacity from 120 to 500 units. He also highlighted opportunities for broader collaboration with the banking sector, such as infrastructure financing schemes and the placement of financial management experts to strengthen professional governance.

“USU Hospital functions not only as a healthcare service provider but also as a hub for education, research, and community service. Therefore, support like this has a broad impact, not only on improving the quality of medical services but also on developing human resources in the healthcare sector,” he stated.

The President Director of Prof. dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Teaching Hospital, dr. Inke Nadia Diniyanti Lubis, PGDip PID FAAET, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A, Ph.D., explained that although this partnership is still in its early stages, the benefits are already significant in improving service quality. She noted that the assistance would directly enhance patient experience and support hospital operations.

“The CSR support will immediately improve the quality of services for patients. We have received 110 wheelchairs, four self-registration machines, and four television units, which will help ensure that patients have a better experience when accessing services at USU Hospital,” she said.

Regional CEO of BRI Medan, Novian Supriatno, also emphasized that the assistance reflects BRI’s commitment to supporting national development through social and environmental responsibility. He reaffirmed BRI’s readiness to continue proactive collaboration in advancing USU Hospital into a more competitive and high-quality healthcare institution.

“We are committed to improving facilities and public services so that the collaboration between BRI, USU Hospital, and the university becomes a comprehensive partnership, enabling USU Hospital to be widely recognized and competitive in the healthcare sector,” he stated.

The CSR assistance provided by BRI Medan includes four self-service registration machines, four television units, as well as 110 wheelchairs and IV poles. These contributions are expected to be immediately utilized to support the hospital’s daily operations.

Through this cross-sector collaboration between higher education institutions, healthcare services, and the banking sector, Universitas Sumatera Utara hopes that this strategic partnership will continue to grow sustainably, leading to the development of professional, humane, and high-standard healthcare services for the wider community.
