USU PR—The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in organizing the 3rd Medan International Prosthodontics Scientific Meeting in conjunction with The 1st Indonesian Prosthodontics Annual Meeting. With the theme "Prosthodontics Excellence: Revolutionizing Patient Care Through Science and Innovation," the event took place at the Grand Ballroom of Adimulia Hotel from Thursday to Saturday (May 2-4, 2024).
This international conference served as a platform for experts and practitioners in prosthodontics to share knowledge and experiences on how new technologies are revolutionizing the design and fabrication of dental prostheses, bringing care to a more efficient and personalized level.
In his speech, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., represented by USU Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., expressed appreciation for the significance of this international conference in fostering scientific collaboration and updating the latest knowledge among practitioners and researchers in the field of prosthodontics.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., highlighted how technological innovations have opened up new knowledge in oral care and rehabilitation, with prosthodontics leading the way in implementing innovative solutions that not only restore function but also enhance aesthetics and the quality of patient treatment.
"At this conference, expert speakers will share their knowledge and experiences on how technology is revolutionizing the design and fabrication of dental prostheses, taking us into a new era of more efficient and personalized care," explained Prof. Poppy.
As the event's chairperson, drg. Ricca Chairunnisa, Sp. Pros., Subsps. OGST(K), revealed that this conference is more than just a scientific meeting but also a means to achieve USU's internationalization targets with the participation of experts and 500 attendees from Indonesia, Libya, China, Australia, South Korea, and Thailand.
"We have prepared for six months to organize this event, with the support of the entire team, including support from USU and the Indonesian Prosthodontics Association (IPROSI)," said Drg. Ricca.
In line with this, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K) stated that this event was one of the implementations of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between USU and the Indonesian Prosthodontics Association (IPROSI). This includes collaboration in increasing the publication of articles in the Scorpis journal, which is expected to enhance the performance of the USU Faculty of Dentistry.
"This is an activity organized by IPROSI and FKG USU, and the participants come from all Prosthodontics study programs owned by six universities, namely UI, UNPAD, UGM, UNHAS, and USU," explained Drg. Essie.
