THH Laboratory USU Obtain SNI ISO/IEC Accreditation

USU PR—The Forest Product Technology Laboratory (Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Hutan OR THH) at the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FHut USU), has obtained the international accreditation certificate SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN). This activity occurred at the FHut USU meeting room on Monday (May 21, 2024).
The Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., expressed his gratitude for the remarkable achievement of the THH Laboratory, which is an essential variable for international accreditation. He mentioned that this accomplishment opens access for external parties outside USU to utilize the THH Laboratory for various research purposes.
"We are delighted and grateful for the extraordinary achievement of the Faculty of Forestry," he said.
Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., also appreciated the collaboration of various parties that contributed to the outstanding recognition of the THH Laboratory. He stated that this achievement is one of FHut's many successes and illustrates the faculty's commitment to continuous growth and contribution to USU's Internationalization Program.
Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., hopes this achievement will boost the spirit of learning activities at USU.
"This is the commitment shown by the Faculty of Forestry," he added.
Dean of FHut USU, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., mentioned that the proposal for international accreditation was an idea from the head of the THH Laboratory.
To realize this, a joint team was formed from the THH Laboratory and the academic community with an interest in forest product technology.
“The idea came from the Head of the THH Lab proposing international accreditation," he said.
Furthermore, Dr. Ir. Luthfi Hakim, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM, as the Head of the THH Lab, affirmed the commitment to USU's internationalization program. He stated that in the future, the services and quality of the THH Laboratory will be enhanced, especially in testing student research. "We will improve services, especially for student research testing," he emphasized.
The THH Laboratory also offers facilities such as research testing or equipment borrowing to external parties who register on the official website of FHut USU. Currently, 9 district governments have utilized the THH Laboratory's facilities at FHut USU.
