USU PR - Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) held an Audience and Public Lecture with the theme "Striving Towards Globally Removed University Through Academic Nexus Program" at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). The event was held at the Academic Senate Meeting Room, on Friday (08/09/2023).

USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. welcomed and congratulated the presence of UiTM Rector Prof. Ir. Dr. Haji. Ahmad Rashidy Razali.

This activity discusses the activities and further cooperation that will be discussed. The USU Rector said that there were already several USU lecturers who took doctoral degrees at UiTM and were preparing student exchange programs.

"Of course, UiTM and Universitas Sumatera Utara have a quite close and warm relationship. There are also our lecturers who are studying to take doctoral degrees, doctoral degrees, especially in neurology. Then we are doing a student exchange program. 39 students of Universitas Sumatera Utara are studying at UiTM for one semester," said Prof. Mury.

The USU Rector added that a halal tourism program is currently being implemented. Cooperation with UiTM can be in the form of research and other forms.

"We are also implementing a program with the Faculty of Law and UiTM regarding community advocacy for tourism. For halal tourism. This is a research cooperation, collaboration, then there is also community service with the Faculty of Vocational Studies," he added.

The public lecture itself brought 4 speakers, namely, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hashim Fadzil Ariffin is the Head of the Center of Study Faculty Hotel and Tourism Management UiTM, and Mr. Zamri Ahmad is the Head of the Corporate Communication Unit and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azila Azmi. Prof. Dr. Azila Azmi is the Lead Researcher of SRP UiTM & USU.

The Rector of UiTM said that he would invite the USU Rector to Penang in October, as a form of reciprocal visit.

"So the Rector strongly agrees to work together. And we have invited the Rector to Penang Island for our campus. USU students and USU staff have also worked together before. I have also made an appointment with the USU Rector, for us to come back here with various other activities," explained the UiTM Rector.

The Rector of UiTM said that in future cooperation, UiTM is preparing things to carry out student exchanges with USU which will be carried out next year.

"We are in the size of students, we enter the semester first for conversation. And also make sure our work is organized. Later we will see how we need our student exchange next year. That is how we have planned now. Therefore in the future, how can we develop it further," concluded the Rector of UiTM.
