HUMAS USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Financial Governance Strengthening Program on Tuesday (23/06/2026). The event took place in the USU Academic Senate Hall as part of the university’s efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in budget management.

During the program, USU discussed strategies for strengthening financial governance to ensure a shared understanding among financial managers and administrators. This initiative was intended to ensure that budget management is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, in a more orderly manner, and with clear accountability.

“As a State University with Legal Entity Status (PTN-BH), USU has the authority to manage its finances independently. However, such management must be conducted transparently, accountably, and in a manner that can be fully justified,” said Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP.

Meanwhile, Hasnul Arief Fikri, S.Ti. explained that USU continues to pursue institutional transformation through the development of rector regulations and technical guidelines that serve as references for all university work units.

“The Directorate of Finance at USU continues to provide assistance and guidance to ensure that financial management is implemented effectively, efficiently, and with a strong commitment to accountability,” said Hasnul Arief Fikri, S.Ti.

In addition, the Director of the Directorate of Procurement of Goods and Services at USU, Muhammad Delfi Harahap, S.E., emphasized that strengthening financial governance must also be supported by procurement processes that are orderly, transparent, efficient, and targeted.

Through this initiative, USU reaffirms its commitment to implementing sound financial governance practices and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability across all organizational units, thereby supporting the university’s sustainable development and institutional excellence.
