USU Rector Leads the Commemoration Ceremony of National Education
"We all know that when he first took office, he proposed a program of Merdeka, Merdeka Belajar on campus, which we have all felt the benefits of until now, that there are no more teachers who cannot objectively assess their students, and no more students who do not feel free to develop their ideas and creativity," said Prof. Fidel.
USU PR—In commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a ceremony with the theme "Moving Together to Continue Merdeka Belajar," led directly by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si. The event occurred in front of the Central Administration Building of USU on Thursday (May 2, 2024).
In his address, the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Muryanto Amin, read the speech of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, in commemoration of National Education Day on May 2, 2024.
"This is a new breakthrough for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to become a pioneer in the Merdeka Belajar movement to support education in Indonesia. Many things can be adapted from his five years of leadership as the Minister of Education, which pays attention to the challenges and opportunities to advance education in Indonesia," said the USU Rector.
Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked(OG), Sp. O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., as the Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara, stated that Merdeka Belajar is a program that greatly helps in improving education in Indonesia. With this program, students have more freedom to develop their ideas and creativity.

Prof. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar from Universitas Sumatera Utara also stated that there are no obstacles to implementing the work program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and USU will continue to pursue the Minister's goals to advance the concept of Merdeka and Merdeka Belajar on campus.
