2 USU Lecturers Named World's Influential Scientists

USU Public Relations - Two lecturers at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), namely Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut, M.Si, Ph.D who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry and Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani, MS, CIQaR, CIQnR who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities has been named a world influential scientist based on the Stanford University Ranking.
USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Sc., congratulated the achievements of the two USU lecturers and hoped to inspire lecturers at USU to achieve the same achievement.

Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and USU Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., confirmed that the two USU lecturers were influential because of their research in their respective fields.
“Every year Stanford issues data on the influence of scientific work from all world researchers. The method is based on 5 indicators," Prof. Himsar Ambarita mentioned.
He explained that the indicators are citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score).
"Usually it is divided into 2 major categories (year career/all) and for this year specifically the 2021 paper. Data collection for this year is September 1, 2022. For 2021 achievements, after being sorted worldwide the best 2% is trimmed and there are as many as 200,409 researchers," he said.
For information, specifically from Indonesia there are 98 researchers who have been named world influential scientists. From UI there were 11 people, from ITB there were 8 people and USU there were 2 researchers, namely Prof. Basyuni and Prof. Robert Sibarani.
In the previous year, two USU lecturers on behalf of Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T. and Prof. Drs. Mahyuddin M.IT, Ph.D., was also named a world influential scientist (©ULC)
