USU PR – The celebration of Universitas Sumatera Utara’s (USU) 74th Anniversary became even more festive with a performance by Indonesian singer Anji. The appearance of the singer, widely known for his hit song Dia, was one of the most anticipated moments for USU’s academic community and students at the USU Auditorium on Thursday (August 20, 2026).

During his performance, Anji performed several popular songs familiar to the audience, including Menunggu Kamu and Dia. The performance was enthusiastically received by students who filled the venue of USU’s 74th Anniversary celebration.

Carrying the theme “Listening to Science for Global Impact,” USU’s 74th Anniversary was not only a moment to commemorate the university’s long journey, but also an opportunity to strengthen USU’s commitment to producing knowledge and innovation that create an impact on society, the nation, and the world.

Anji’s performance was part of a series of activities designed to bring entertainment and a sense of togetherness to the USU academic community. The students’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the performance, particularly when Anji performed Dia, one of his most widely recognized songs.

One USU Vocational School student, Zahra, said she was impressed by Anji’s performance. According to her, the presence of the nationally renowned musician made USU’s Anniversary celebration even more festive and memorable for students.

“Anji’s performance was very entertaining. I was impressed because it made the atmosphere of USU’s Anniversary celebration even more lively. His songs are also very familiar, so the students could sing along together,” Zahra said.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Annisa Nasution, a student from USU’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). She described Anji’s performance as one of the most enjoyable moments in the series of events celebrating USU’s 74th Anniversary.

“I really enjoyed Anji’s performance. The atmosphere was incredible, and the students were clearly very enthusiastic. It was a memorable experience during this year’s USU Anniversary celebration,” she said.

The 74th Anniversary celebration serves as an opportunity for USU to continue strengthening its role as a higher education institution that not only excels academically, but is also capable of building a dynamic, creative, and student-centered campus ecosystem.

Through the theme “Listening to Science for Global Impact,” USU reaffirmed its commitment to continuously listen to, develop, and apply scientific knowledge as part of its efforts to create tangible benefits for society and strengthen its contribution at both the national and global levels.
