FIB USU Holds Public Lecture “Pemajuan Kebudayaan,” Encourages Interdisciplinary Collaboration

USU PR - The Faculty of Cultural Sciences of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU) successfully held a public lecture on the promotion of culture entitled “Memahami Ekonomi Tersembunyi dan Meletakkan Kebudayaan sebagai Hulu Pembangunan” in the framework of its 59th Anniversary. The event presented the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Hilmar Farid, Ph.D., as the main speaker.
In his speech, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin appreciated FIB USU for initiating this event. He also emphasized the important role of culture in development and hoped that this public lecture could inspire all participants. The Rector also highlighted the great potential of FIB USU in developing scientific journals that focus on local wisdom.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, hopes that FIB students can have a broader insight, not only preserving but also exploring culture in the context of the creative industry. She encouraged students to conduct interdisciplinary research and publish the results of their research.

Head of the 59th Anniversary Committee of FIB USU, Rahmadsyah Rangkuti, explained that this public lecture aims to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration in developing a culture-based economy. He invited students from various faculties to be actively involved in efforts to preserve and develop culture.
“Interdisciplinary collaboration is the key to developing a creative economy based on Indonesia's cultural wealth,” said Rahmadsyah Rangkuti.
In his presentation, the Director General of Culture, Hilmar Farid, Ph.D., discussed the importance of placing culture as the upstream of development. He also highlighted the huge potential of the creative economy based on Indonesia's rich culture.
“By placing culture as the upstream of development, we can create a more inclusive and sustainable future,” Hilmar explained.
