USU PR - Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si inaugurated the Commander of the Student Regiment (Menwa) Battalion-A USU/KP and the administrators of the Battalion-A Alumni Association (IKAYON-A). The event occurred at the USU Menwa Commander Headquarters on Wednesday (15/06/2022).
The Rector said there was a need for a program to increase the love of the country students. But, as the Rector said, Menwa can be at the forefront to protect USU from threats.
"We hope that Menwa will be at the forefront, so that, for example, if there are things that outside children come to campus to riot, all kinds of things, yes, Menwa is at the forefront," said the Rector.
USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si also added that the Menwa organization is a forum for students to increase discipline and love for the homeland with various methods such as marching training and increasing body endurance.
On the same occasion, the Commander of Menwa, Lukman Purwadi conveyed the vision and mission that active members of Menwa could play an active role in the campus environment and remain at the forefront. Stabilizer for student security can also shape students' mentality in terms of physical, public speaking, and intellectual.
"The vision and mission of course, for active members first so that they can play an active role in the campus environment as the front guard mentioned by the Rector. How to act as a security stabilizer for students and it's like mental formation as well, physical development both in terms of public speaking and intellectual skills ," he said.
Chairman of the Alumni Association Battalion-A (IKAYON-A) USU Prof, Dr. Tamrin, M.Sc also hopes that the IKAYON management can play an active role and oversee the progress of the Menwa in the future.
He also said that the USU Menwa would later collaborate with DHD 45 in the Napaktilas activity, which is planned to be held on 8 November. In addition, Menwa will also conduct tree planting, which will be supervised by the USU Rector and the Mayor of Medan. Not only that, Menwa will also hold collaborations with high school students, UISU, UIN, Unimed and Nomensen.
"We hope that alumni will be more active, can see the progress of their younger siblings, the Student Regiment and we will also collaborate in the future. Especially with the Rector, if possible, for several activities, the closest we will be collaborating with DHD 45," he said.
