Summer Course 2023 FT USU Discusses Agroindustry Innovation

USU PR- The Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the opening of the 2023 International Summer Course at Building J14 FT USU, on Monday (04/09/2023).
With the theme "Agroindustry Innovation to Increase Production and Support Sustainable Agricultural Development in The Era of Disruption", the Dean of FT, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST., M.Sc., IPM, said the International Summer Course was attended by participants from Malaysia, Thailand, and India.
"The participants are international, from Malaysia, Thailand, and India too," he said.
After that, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST, M.Sc., IPM, explained that the activities that focused on agro-industry were divided into material delivery and field trips to industries in North Sumatra.
"It is done in the concept of 2 days in the material then there is a field trip," he explained.
On the same occasion, the Dean of FT USU hopes that this International Summer Course activity can produce international accreditation for FT USU. Then, he hopes that international cooperation activities such as sending students abroad or conducting research with other foreign university lecturers might be carried out in the future.
"Of course, international-scale activities continue to be encouraged, and do not stop only at the Summer Course," he hoped.
The Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, Ir. Aulia Ishak, ST, MT, Ph.D., IPM, said the purpose of the International Summer Course was to establish international cooperation, which is part of the USU Internationalization program.
"The purpose of the Summer Course is to establish cooperation in the internationalization of USU in the future," he said.
Besides USU, the 2023 International Summer Course is supported by 3 other universities, namely Universiti Sains Malaysia, Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, and Reva University in India. Aulia Ishak, ST, MT, Ph.D., IPM, expressed his hope that this activity could become a forum for practitioners and academic lecturers in the field of Industrial Engineering to meet and work together.
"It is hoped that from here the practitioners and academic lecturers of Industrial Engineering will meet," he said.
