“Program ini diharapkan bisa menyukseskan program pemerintah dalam bidang kesehatan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat umum," ungkap Prof. Himsar.

HUMAS USU – The North Sumatra Provincial Health Office (Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Sumatera Utara) held an audience meeting with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) on Thursday (18/06/2026) at the Equity Room, Rectorate Building. The meeting focused on plans for collaboration to support a free health screening program as part of the government's priority initiatives.

USU Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., stated that the collaboration represents an initial step toward supporting the acceleration of government health programs while creating opportunities for the university to contribute to improving public health awareness on a broader scale, both in the short and long term.

“This program is expected to support the government's health initiatives in improving the overall health of the community,” said Prof. Himsar.

Furthermore, Vice Rector for Planning, Infrastructure, and Business, Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., MM.IT., explained that USU is well-prepared in terms of resources, student capacity, and experience in managing large-scale activities. These strengths can be utilized to support the implementation of health screening programs in a structured and extensive manner.

“We are ready to support the implementation of this program to reach a wider segment of the community in a more organized and systematic way,” he stated.

USU Secretary Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., emphasized that collaboration between USU and the provincial government must be carefully planned, particularly regarding technical implementation, to ensure that the program reaches its intended beneficiaries and remains sustainable.

“This collaboration must be well-prepared so that its implementation is properly targeted and can be optimized to the fullest extent possible,” he said.

At the same event, Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office, H. Muhammad Faisal Hasrimy, A.P., M.A.P., explained that the agency has prepared various healthcare facilities that can be optimized to support the initiative, including a network of community health centers (Puskesmas) serving as the frontline of public healthcare services.

“We have 41 community health centers ready to serve the public. This healthcare network can be optimized to support the implementation of health screening programs on a broader, integrated, and sustainable scale,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of establishing an integrated implementation system to ensure that examinations, data recording, monitoring, and follow-up services can be carried out more effectively and efficiently.

“Health screening data must be well integrated so that every stage—from data collection and monitoring to follow-up healthcare services—can be conducted effectively and efficiently,” he emphasized.

Through this collaboration, USU and the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office aim to strengthen the implementation of free health screening programs while increasing public awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive healthcare practices.
