USU PR - The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a visit from the LAM-PTKes assessor team in the context of accreditation of the master of nursing science study program. The field assessment, which was attended by a team of assessors from LAM-PTKes Prof. Dr. Elly Lilianty Sjaffar, S.Kp., M.Kes. and Prof. Dr. Nursalam, M.Nurs (Hons) was held at the USU Faculty of Nursing Hall on Thursday, (27/10/2022).

In her remarks, Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt expressed her gratitude for the presence of the assessor team from the Health Higher Education Self-Accreditation Agency (LAM-PTKes) and also the USU Faculty of Nursing which has prepared all the processes to get the master of nursing science study program accredited superior.

“We really hope that the FKEP master's program will get superior accreditation. Hopefully, it will be realized, thanks to the accreditation team that has worked hard to prepare for this accreditation,” said Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation.

Dean of the USU Faculty of Nursing Dr. Dudut Tanjung, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.KMB said that the master of nursing science study program has made careful preparations starting from an internal evaluation in advance and will continue to ensure the quality improvement of the study program to target achieve international accreditation in 2023.

“This is an external evaluation. Internally, we also have this kind of evaluation, which is carried out by the quality assurance agency. There are also GJM and GKM in the Faculty of Nursing, including the master's study program. The team will continue to ensure that the quality of the Master's study program is maintained,” explained the Dean of the USU Faculty of Nursing.

Head of the USU Faculty of Nursing Master's Study Program Dr. Siti Zahara Nasution, S.Kp., MNS explained, until now it has made various breakthroughs in accordance with the main performance indicators (KPI) such as in terms of thesis guidance, teaching and learning process, and correspondence services with the aim that students can also be motivated and learn optimally.

“We follow all KPIs and make breakthroughs for students both in the thesis guidance process and in the teaching and learning process. We have changed many things, such as correspondence services, then the teaching and learning process, thesis guidance, and other things in facilitating and motivating master students to study optimally and graduate in accordance with the study program, which is only 4 semesters,” he said.

Furthermore, the assessor team from LAM-PTKes Prof. Dr. Elly Lilianty Sjaffar, S.Kp., M.Kes. hopes that the USU Faculty of Nursing Master Study Program can go through the 9 Criteria Accreditation Instrument such as in the field of education to the quality of human resources to achieve superior accreditation.

“The assessment items are in accordance with the criteria. There are 9 criteria. My hope as an assessor is that there will be an increase from B to superior, and of course, we also have to be objective,” he said.
