MEDAN – HUMAS USU: Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through its Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, organized the USU Career Day and Expo 2026 at the USU Student Center on Wednesday (April 15, 2026).

This event reflects USU’s commitment, in collaboration with its industry partners, to identify, develop, and prepare future leaders who are competent, professional, and possess strong integrity.

The initiative aligns with USU’s vision to become a university with academic excellence that serves as a benchmark for scientific advancement and is capable of competing at the global level. As part of this vision, USU continuously strives to deliver high-quality and professional academic services, including enhancing extracurricular activities and student welfare to support both academic and non-academic development, ultimately strengthening graduates’ competitiveness in the job market.

This was conveyed by the Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU, in his opening remarks.

“Within an innovative campus environment, USU is ready to encourage and facilitate students and alumni in honing and developing their talents. In addition, USU is committed to building broad collaborations and networks, engaging not only with fellow academics but also with practitioners and industry players,” he stated.

The USU Career Day and Expo, held over two days from April 15 to 16, 2026, featured a number of prominent companies, including PT Ganda Saribu Utama, PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, PT Hangcha Indonesia Forklift, PT Indonesia Epson Industry, PT Ega Tekelindo, Auto 2000, Binus University, BTPN Syariah, Arista Group, Wings Group, OTO Group, Pharos Indonesia, and Kimberly-Clark Softex (PT Softex Indonesia), among others.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Deans I from across Universitas Sumatera Utara, Secretary of the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni Dr. Fatwa Imelda, S.Kep., Ns., M.Biomed., M.Kep., Secretary to the Director of Public Relations, Protocol, and Promotion Ami Dilham, S.E., M.Si., Manager of Tracer Study, Alumni Affairs, and Career Development Dr. T. Henny Febriana Harumy, S.Kom., M.Kom., as well as representatives from partner companies.

On the sidelines of the event, Prof. Agus further highlighted that the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni has implemented various initiatives to support career development programs. These include job vacancy information and job fairs, career counseling and development, workshops and skills training (upskilling), mentoring and alumni networking programs, tracer studies, career guidance and soft skills training, as well as bootcamps and industry internships.

“Through these programs, we hope that graduates can more easily secure jobs relevant to their fields of study and continue to develop their careers sustainably. USU targets that at least 80 percent of its graduates will be absorbed into the workforce, pursue further studies, or become entrepreneurs,” he concluded.
