USU Participates in Education Expo in Qatar
The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar allowed Indonesian universities to present their best programs to target the Indonesian diaspora and international students. Additionally, various scholarship programs in Indonesia were promoted during the event.
USU PR—Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) attended The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar. The event occurred in Doha from May 11th to 12th, 2024, at the Rotana Hotel in Doha, Qatar.
Ten leading universities in Indonesia participated in the expo, including Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), IPB University, Binus University, and Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad).
The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar allowed Indonesian universities to present their best programs to target the Indonesian diaspora and international students. Additionally, various scholarship programs in Indonesia were promoted during the event.
The USU delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt., the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation. During the presentation session, Prof. Poppy introduced USU's various faculties and internationalization programs, such as student exchange, staff exchange, research collaboration, and summer courses.
The booth received a warm response from visitors from the Indonesian diaspora and international students. According to Prof. Poppy, "USU's participation in The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar was very beneficial. We had the opportunity to introduce USU's international programs. Moreover, we expanded our international network and opened up collaboration opportunities for USU."
In addition to the warm response from visitors, the event garnered significant attention from USU alumni working in Qatar. The presence of the USU delegation provided a moment for the alumni to reconnect with each other.
Sofwan Fakhrurazi, an alumnus, expressed his gratitude to the USU delegation for visiting Qatar. He mentioned, "With this event, we alumni are closer and more united after decades in Qatar. As alumni, we hope to contribute more to USU and the nation."
USU's participation in the 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar is expected to open up opportunities for closer educational collaborations between USU and Qatari universities and industries. Furthermore, USU aims to become a preferred choice for students in Qatar to pursue their education at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels.
