USU Rector Receives KMDT North Sumatra Audience

USU PR-Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si. received an audience from the Toba Lake Community Committee (KMDT) North Sumatra (Sumut). The activity took place in the Rector's Audience Room, USU Central Administration Bureau Building, on Wednesday (16/08/2023).
In his remarks, the USU Chancellor committed to making a significant contribution to solving the problems around Toba Lake. In this effort, USU will focus on priority aspects that can provide added value, including their support in the celebration of Youth Pledge, Ulos Day, and other programs.
"We want Toba Lake to have a priority scale that is focused on. USU's contribution is to determine the focus that will be added value, by supporting several programs," explained Prof. Muryanto.
The USU Rector also added that in the future, together with KMDT, more specific discussions will be held regarding the focus of the problems that have been determined to be realized immediately, one of which is the house renovation program which will focus on slums around the Toba Lake area, targeting 20 houses in each district.
"With the collaboration between USU and KMDT, we will discuss more specifically the focus of the agreed problems. To immediately implement programs that solve problems around Toba Lake," said Prof. Muryanto.
Chairman of the KMDT Central Leadership Council (DPP) St. Edison Manurung, SH, MM said that the KMDT visit aims to achieve one of KMDT's visions which focuses on education, namely educating the nation's children. This will be realized in the provision of scholarships and other programs that have been planned with USU.
"The purpose of KMDT's visit is to achieve one of KMDT's visions in the field of education. Collaboration will be realized in the scholarship program and there are several other programs," explained Edison.
Therefore, St. Edison Manurung, SH, MM is optimistic that a national meeting will be held to further discuss the program design. To achieve KMDT's vision in the field of superior human resources, research will be carried out in 7 Toba Lake areas in collaboration with USU, involving S1, S2, and S3 students.
"In the future, a national meeting will be held. To educate the nation's children, collaboration with USU will later have a research program in 7 Toba Lake areas," explained Edison.
Chairman of KMDT DPW North Sumatra Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Binari Manurung, M.Si stated that this collaboration was carried out to be able to realize better development in the Toba Lake region, namely in the environmental aspect and community welfare. Collaboration with USU can help achieve optimal program realization.
"This is all to build the Toba Lake region in the aspects of the environment and community welfare. By conducting a collaborative program so that the program can run optimally," said Prof. Binari.
