USU SPIRIT Project Attended the ISBR International Conference
This activity aims to develop the SPIRIT Club with various sports activities for young people including sports or traditional dances in preventing non-communicable diseases in all Asian countries.
The SPIRIT Team at the Universitas Sumatera Utara attended the International ISBR Business School Conference with the theme "Global Innovations: Sustainable Practices and Emerging Trends" in Bangalore, India, and the SPIRIT Project Erasmus Plus meeting on February 28 2024 to March 4 2024. This event was attended by all coordinators SPIRIT Project, teaching staff, and SPIRIT Club members from European countries, namely the University of Nicosia (Cyprus) and the University Politecnica de Valencia (Spain); Asian countries namely ISBR Business School (India), Lovely Professional University (India), Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed to be University (India), University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka), Sabaragamuwa University (Sri Lanka), Universitas Sumatera Utara (Indonesia), Universitas IPB (Indonesia), Syah Kuala University (Indonesia).
Various activities will support collaboration in the fields of academics, research, community service collaboration in terms of increasing understanding of the importance of exercise and good nutrition for all members of society, especially limited groups such as women and children, groups with disabilities without leaving out any of them. Inclusiveness means including everyone without looking at different limitations, backgrounds, beliefs and cultures. This was confirmed by Dr. Manish Kothari as President of ISBR Group of Institutions.
This activity aims to develop the SPIRIT Club with various sports activities for young people including sports or traditional dances in preventing non-communicable diseases in all Asian countries. This activity was promoted and appointed as the main activity at the meeting, and as Coordinator Dr. Sheetal Mahender expressed the same thing, by holding sessions of sports performances and traditional dances from each country. He also raised the theme of the Walkathon with the theme "Walk for Unity, Empowerment, Health, and Well-Being, which was held on March 3 2024 and was held with great fanfare and was attended by almost 1000 participants walking along the ISBR Business School track, Bangalore, India.
Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Mr. Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S. Sos, M. Si expressed his full support in supporting the SPIRIT Project Erasmus Plus activities which have been running for three years. Activities will end in July 2024 but will continue to be developed by USU, including the USU SPIRIT Club and USU SPIRIT Club Fitness and Gym Center. This will be further expanded with the construction of a larger USU Sports Sciences.
As head of the USU Team, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M. Gizi, SpGK (K) and five members, namely Dr. Dr. Yetty Machrina, AIFO-K, Sp.KKLP, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dewi Masyithah Darlan, DAP& E.MPH.Sp.Park, Dr. Dr. Eka Roina Megawati, M. Kes, dr. Chairani Eyanoer's daughter, MS.Epi., Ph.D., Rocky Charles Andreas Sihombing took part in this activity and participated in every meeting. The topics raised were related to sports and its development, the presentation of research results was also carried out in various sessions and topics and was attended by more than 500 participants. The hope for the future is that young people will be more attentive and contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases through increasing physical activity and proper nutrition.
