USU Strengthens Collaboration with the University of Twente

The University of Twente (UT) itself is a world-class campus with scientific concentrations in social, behavioral and engineering sciences. Qs World University Rankings 2023 places the University of Twente in the world's top 212 university rankings.
Public Relation USU - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is intensively preparing itself to become a world-class university. To achieve this target, USU is collaborating with the University of Twente based in Enschede, the Netherlands.

USU Rector Dr Muryanto Amin, SSos, MSi with Deputy Rector III Prof Dr Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan SSi MSi Apt, Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnership Prof Dr Eng Himsar Ambarita, ST, MT, and Director of the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations Doli Muhammad Jafar Dalimunthe, SE, MSi during his working visit to the Netherlands had the opportunity to establish a stronger collaboration with the University of Twente, Tuesday (11/29/2022).
The Rector of the University of Twente warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Ir Tom Veldkamp and the Coordinator of International Relations Drs. Tom Loran and his team, USU and the University of Twente agreed to conduct research collaboration, exchange students and lecturers and expand opportunities for USU alumni and lecturers to study at the University of Twente.
USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin explained that USU's relationship with the University of Twente had previously been well established. However, increased cooperation is needed in line with USU's internationalization targets.
"At the meeting, USU and the University of Twente agreed to conduct joint research on the carrying capacity of the Lake Toba Region which will become a Tourism Area, Food Estate, Fisheries Industry, and others," the Rector said.
In addition, the University of Twente will send students to USU to conduct case studies on problems related to Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, including Natural Resources Management.
The Rector explained, the collaboration with the University of Twente could increase the opportunities for USU students and lecturers to study at the University of Twente with the support of the LPDP scholarship. For this effort the University of Twente is willing to do coaching.
"USU will also send students to carry out MBKM activities at the University of Twente. It was also agreed that in 2023 there would be a student exchange program and staff mobility. The points of the agreement have been discussed together and will be realized soon," he said.
The Rector explained, after research exchanges and collaborations have taken place, more intense and sustainable communication will be established.
"Collaboration with the University of Twente will continue to be improved in the future. After knowing the competencies of each university, USU and the University of Twente jointly agreed to build a center of excellence," Muryanto Amin said. (©ULC)
