Visiting Indus Univ, USU Opens Opportunities for Cooperation

Prof. Poppy emphasized that both universities share common goals in international education and research. She expressed her hope for active promotion of exchange programs and stable, pragmatic cooperation between the two universities.
HUMAS USU - A delegation from the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), led by Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Hasibuan, S.Si, M.Si., Apt, visited Indus University in Karachi, Pakistan. The delegation was accompanied by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat. They were warmly welcomed by the Rector of Indus University, Khalid Amin Sheikh, and other university officials.
During the meeting, Khalid Amin extended a warm welcome to the Indonesian Consul General and the entire USU delegation. He introduced the officials present and provided an overview of Indus University and its characteristics. He also discussed the main requirements for foreign cooperation and the university's development strategy. Khalid emphasized the importance of the visit from the Universitas Sumatera Utara to Indus University, as it deepens understanding, fosters friendship, and paves the way for closer cooperation. He expressed hope that both institutions could exchange ideas, engage in discussions, and explore innovative and mutually beneficial cooperation models in education, staff and student exchanges, and scientific research collaboration.
Prof. Poppy Hasibuan, representing USU, briefly introduced the history and philosophy of the Universitas Sumatera Utara. She expressed that the desire to establish cooperation between the two institutions aims to serve the community and create a safe environment for students to learn and develop. Prof. Poppy emphasized that both universities share common goals in international education and research. She expressed her hope for active promotion of exchange programs and stable, pragmatic cooperation between the two universities.
As a starting point for their cooperation, Dr. Sobia Usman, Assistant Professor of Media Science at Indus University, will be one of the facilitators in the Summer Course Program "Social Media Marketing" at the USU Faculty of Economics and Business, scheduled for August 2023.
Other members of the USU delegation who participated in the visit were Vice Rector for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA, Vice Dean I of FMIPA, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si, M.Si, and Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S, M.Hum, Head of the International Affairs Office.
