The general lecture presented prominent speakers from the Netherlands, namely Assoc Prof. Thomas Groen and Lyande Eelderink, M.Sc., who are experts in spatial technology and environmental management.

The USU Faculty of Forestry once again organized an International General Lecture with experts from the Netherlands, discussing the role of spatial technology in sustainable forest and environmental management. The event, which was intended to strengthen USU's commitment to solving global environmental challenges, took the topic “The Role of Spatial Technology in Sustainable Forest and Environmental Management”. The event took place on Wednesday, (13/12/2024), at the USU Faculty of Forestry, USU Bekala Campus.

The public lecture presented prominent speakers from the Netherlands, namely Assoc Prof. Thomas Groen and Lyande Eelderink, M.Sc., who are experts in spatial technology and environmental management. Both speakers shared in-depth insights into the role of spatial technology in supporting the sustainability of forest resource management and the environment. The event, which began at 1:30 p.m., was attended by lecturers, students, and forestry practitioners from various institutions, creating a dynamic academic atmosphere. Through this lecture, participants are expected to gain new insights that can be applied in various fields, including environmental management research and policy.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, which allowed participants to have a direct discussion with the speakers. In addition, the event also included the signing of a letter of extension and Memorandum of Agreement for research cooperation and joint supervisors, which ended with the presentation of souvenirs by both parties.

Through this event, the USU Faculty of Forestry reinforced its commitment as an educational center that plays an active role in presenting solutions to global environmental challenges and advancing sustainable natural resource management.
