USU PR - Indonesian Health Higher Education Self-Accreditation Agency (LAM-PTKes) conducted a Field Assessment of the Neurosurgery Master Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara at the USU Faculty of Medicine Hall, Thursday (24/08/2023).


This activity brought in two assessors, Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Maliawan, Sp. BS., Subsp, N-Ped. FICS from Udayana University and Prof. Dr. dr. Dwi Pudjornarko, M. Kes, Sp. N, Subsp. NNNK(K) from Diponegoro University.


Vice Chancellor IV for Information, Planning, and Development Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, M Sc, said so many achievements have been obtained by the USU Neurosurgery study program from any field such as academics, student affairs, lecturer resources, infrastructure, including research studies and cooperation.


"We hope that through this assessment, the Neurosurgery Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara will get the best recognition and maximum results for the performance carried out," he said.


This activity is carried out to obtain an assessment of the suitability of the LAM-PTKes team from the documents reported by the study program.


The Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), said that he had prepared it as well as possible. Neurosurgery at the USU Faculty of Medicine is one of the study programs prepared to develop more advanced.


"Well, hopefully as expected by the Rector, namely Go International and we also hope that the neurosurgery study program is part of the USU Faculty of Medicine together with the USU Faculty of Medicine to continue its status and get international recognition," said the Dean of FK.

Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Maliawan, Sp. BS., Subsp, N-Ped. FICS mentioned that almost all aspects were assessed to ensure the feasibility and progress of learning Neurosurgery Specialists. He said, later the assessors will highlight and assess deficiencies, then verify reports according to what happens in the field.


"The purpose of us conducting this assessment is for the progress of all of us and patient safety," he emphasized.


Prof. Dr. dr. Dwi Pudjornarko, M. Kes, Sp. N, Subsp. NNNK(K) said that this accreditation process is something routine and must be done by study programs that want to maintain the quality of their graduates with an assessment from various aspects. Through its academic aspects, student affairs, resources including lecturers, infrastructure, and including research studies and cooperation.


"What we have seen in recent years is what the process has been like and we match it with quality standards," he said.
