USU Public Relations - The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was entrusted to be the coordinator of the Academic Health System (AHS) workshop in region I. The workshop which lasted for three days in a hybrid manner at Grandhika City Hall Medan, was opened directly by the Director General of Health Workers of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Arianti Anaya, MKM online, Friday (11/18/2022).
AHS is a collaboration involving two ministries, namely the Ministry of Health (Menkes) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikburistek. Through AHS, the government seeks to accelerate capacity building and quality of the Faculty of Medicine.
Deputy Rector IV for Information, Planning and Development at USU Public Relationsof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc. who attended represented the Rector of USU Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si said AHS was the right step for increasing health workers. This step can be started by adding teaching staff first and then adding students so that later they meet the existing standards.

Deputy Dean I of FK USU Dr. dr. Delyuzar M.Ked(PA), Sp.PA(K) that AHS is a collaboration involving the Faculty of Medicine, hospitals and local governments to discuss health issues, especially increasing the student quota and the number of medical student graduates without compromising on quality.
"Today's hot topic is how to add to the shortage of health workers so that later USU will be appointed coordinator for region one," Doctor Delyuzar explained.
As a symbolic form of this collaboration, there was the signing of a joint commitment charter by representatives of each party involved in AHS Region 1.
The regions that are members of AHS Region one are Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, and the Riau Archipelago.
Dr. Akemat, SKp., M.Kes., Head of the Graduate Preparation Team in Industry and the World of Work Directorate of Provision of Health Workers Directorate General of Health Workers of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia said that this collaboration is the right implementation to support the transformation of health human resources because in this case, FK will produce graduates who are then teaching hospitals will support practical materials, then the local government will make use of them.
Dr. Akemat, SKp., M.Kes wants health human resources in Indonesia to be adequate in number and evenly distributed.
"This is a very fitting combination, among others, overcoming the lack of uneven institutional staff and health competence that must be maintained," he said. (©ULC)
