USU-IKAI Social Welfare Seminar on Drug User Rehabilitation

USU PR - The Social Welfare Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in collaboration with the Indonesian Addiction Counselors Association (IKAI), held a National Seminar entitled “Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Sosial Orang Dengan Gangguan Penyalahgunaan Narkoba Melalui Program Rehabilitasi Sosial Dan Kerja Sama Lintas Profesi Di Provinsi Sumatera Utara.” It took place at the FISIP USU Hall on Thursday (01/25/2024).
In his remarks, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si highlighted the theme of this activity which reflects concern in facing serious challenges faced by individuals affected by drug abuse. Given its widespread impact on social aspects and community welfare. Therefore, the entire potential of the nation needs to unite to find holistic and sustainable solutions.
“This seminar is a forum for us to jointly find the best solutions and strategies to improve the social welfare of individuals affected by drug abuse,” explained Prof. Muryanto.
In line with that, the Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, stated that the purpose of this activity is for students to get education and not seek pleasure through drugs. On the other hand, the establishment of cooperation between FISIP USU and the managers of rehabilitation centers is necessary so that stakeholders can produce more concrete work.
“Students must stay away from drugs because the Regional Chief of Police has provided data that all forms of criminality are mostly started from drug use cases,” said Dr. Hatta.
Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General. Agung Setya Imam Effendi, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si, in his presentation, revealed data that Indonesia faces major problems related to drugs and places drugs as a common enemy. Indications of drug use have an impact not only on the security aspect but also on the economy because it affects the quality of human resources.
“Now our human resources have a challenge, namely drugs. We are a democratic country. Drug users will be rehabilitated, not destroyed,” said Inspector General. Agung.
For information, at the end of the event, the signing of the MoU between FISIP USU and the IPWL, LRKM, and LKS NAPZA Institutions took place. In order to restore drug users and also conduct socialization to students to avoid drug use.
