USU PR - The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a Courtessy Call from the Consul General of Singapore and various renowned universities in Singapore. In the meeting that took place in the Rector's Audience Room on Friday (11/10/2024), both parties agreed to strengthen academic and research relations.

USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, warmly welcomed the delegation from Singapore consisting of representatives from Singapore Management University, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore University of Social Science, and Republic Polytechnic. He hoped that this collaboration would open wider opportunities for students, lecturers, and researchers from both countries to exchange knowledge and experience. He is optimistic that this collaboration will provide significant benefits for both parties.

In line with the Rector, USU's Director of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, Singapore is a potential strategic partner for the development of USU's internationalization. Prof. Himsar explained that Singapore is known as a center of business and innovation in Southeast Asia, so he hopes to learn a lot from them, especially in the fields of international business and research.

The Consul General of Singapore, Dr. Edmund Chia, also welcomed this cooperation. He saw great potential in educational cooperation between the two countries. He also revealed that USU is a very potential university so he is very interested in working together in various fields, such as student exchanges, lecturers, and joint research.
