USU PR — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), represented by Vice Rector I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., received a visit from Dr. Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri, the Education Attaché from the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta. The meeting occurred in the USU Rector's Audience Room on Thursday (Jun. 20, 2024).

Dr. Edy Ikhsan explained that the visit aimed to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly in education. He stated that the visit focused on exploring collaboration opportunities between USU and higher education institutions in Malaysia.

"Today's visit is to strengthen cooperation and explore collaboration opportunities between USU and Malaysia," said Dr. Edy Ikhsan.

In line with this, Dr. Edy Ikhsan added that there have already been many intensive collaborations with various universities in Malaysia, and this visit aims to strengthen and design new collaborations in the future.

"Today, this meeting further strengthens and also designs various new collaborations in the future," he explained.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri stated that the main focus of his visit was to strengthen the capacity, quantity, and quality of the long-standing educational cooperation between Malaysia and USU. He also emphasized the importance of exchanging information on educational issues and expanding the scope of cooperation, including collaborative research, staff mobility, and student exchange.

"We want to strengthen the capacity, quantity, and quality of the long-standing educational cooperation between Malaysia and Universitas Sumatera Utara," said Dr. Hasnul.

Regarding new programs or initiatives, Dr. Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri explained that the Education Counsellor at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta will be a liaison for USU in Malaysia. He also mentioned that there are many collaborations with several universities in Malaysia, such as UITM and UM, which are multi-year and have continuity every year, as well as some single activities.

"The Education Counsellor at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta will bridge various issues and promote Universitas Sumatera Utara in Malaysia so that more Malaysian students can get the opportunity to study at Universitas Sumatera Utara," he added.
